Atlantic Canada's aging demographic means young people need to increasingly take on positions of leadership in business and government. The need to collaborate has never been greater to build that critical mass required to attract foreign investment, build economies of scale and repatriate our talent.

The world is changing rapidly everyday

The rapid pace of economic and social change, including the rise of developing countries, is forcing us to more effectively stimulate, communicate and apply new ideas. Importantly, there is no consensus around which ideas should be used.

Erin Hancock

Erin HancockManager of the Research and Education for the Canadian Co-operative Association

Erin is the Manager of the Research and Education for the Canadian Co-operative Association, a national apex organization promoting, uniting and developing co-operative enterprises of all types across the country. She strongly believes in community economic development and exploring a variety of enterprise models to achieve a balanced and thriving economy.

She has worked as a co-op business developer in New Brunswick (MYDAS Co-op Ltd.), participated as a founding director of the Co-operative Enterprise Council (NB) and has conducted research pertaining to business policy in New Brunswick (UNB). She holds a Bachelor's in Interdisciplinary Leadership Studies, a Master's in Interdisciplinary Policy Studies and a Diploma in University Teaching (Adult Education).

Erin is passionate about governance and stakeholder engagement and has served on the boards of six co-operative organizations; currently the Ottawa Women's Credit Union, the Canadian Co-operative Research Network and the Canadian Association for Studies in Co-operation. Erin grew up in rural Nova Scotia and now lives in Ontario.
